Train For Spartan Race

My training for the Spartan Race started a few months ago.  The training helped me make sure I would complete the goal I set for myself. I worked a little harder every week, to hit targets and make it to race day prepared. Since this was my first time competing in the Spartan Race I was nervous about the unknown. Here’s what I did for my training.

  1. Cardio: Training for the spartan race encouraged me to set a running schedule for myself that increased in difficulty each week leading up to the race. I mainly ran on the treadmill at home, while my toddler was napping or snuck to the gym in the morning before our day started.

  2. Strength Training: For the spartan race I needed to gain full-body strength. I used a pull-up bar, resistance bands, and dumbbell set . I also tried to go to the gym twice a week for an hour to use a variety of equipment for high-intensity training.

  3. Rival Nutrition: I learned about Rival Nutrition and how great their products are. I had never tried a pre-workout or protein powder because I had never trained like this before. It was a couple of weeks into my training when I was introduced to Rival Nutrition and I’ve loved them ever since. The Pre-Workout Ignition is so helpful as a mom if you are tired and not motivated to workout. The product makes you want to get moving and won’t leave you feeling burnt out later.  Plant Pro 100  is a protein powder that I used after each workout to help with building muscle and speed up recovery from muscle soreness.

  4. Food & Drink: Your diet contributes to a large portion of your overall health. I followed a plant-based diet with sources of protein. Drinking a lot of water is so important when training, especially in the final days leading up to the race. I purchased this Hydration Back Pack for race day to stay hydrated.

  5. Fitness Fashion: Having the right mindset for your fitness journey is just as important as all of the other aspects of preparing. Feeling confident about yourself can do so much for you and your ability to train for the challenge. I wore Nike Air Max 270  for my indoor training and Nike MC Trainer for my race. High-Rise Shorts and Breathable Sports Tee. I loved finding these cute and comfortable pieces that made me feel confident and happy watching my body work.

This fitness journey has made me feel strong and proud of myself. I loved crossing the finish line to see my family cheering me on, I felt so great reaching my goal. I enjoyed learning how to create a plan of how I would achieve personal growth while training for the spartan race.

Have you ever trained for something? What are some fitness goals you have set for yourself? I would love to know your strategy and stories of achievement. I found that setting smaller targets throughout the training, made it easier to reach this type of goal, let me know what you think!
