Reasons to Run

Just so you know, I love cows. I have grown up in a large family of dairy farmers and because of this, I have fallen in a lifetime love with Holsteins.

I signed us up to complete a 5 K Milk Run sponsored by dairy producers in our local area. This was such a great day and made my heart happy knowing that I was completing this as a reason to run with my loves.  I was proud to be part of the Lindsay Milk Run, celebrating the values of  Ontario Dairy Farmers and giving back to the community.

The Milk Run adopted its name due to a longstanding event partnership with local dairy producers. The Dairy Farmers of Ontario has been committed to supporting local communities and showcasing dairy as an inspired food choice. This year the Milk Run event marked its 42nd annual, and I was so pleased to be a part of it.  The event offers races for all ages and experience levels, with a 5K, 10K, and 21K half marathon.

There are so many great reasons to run with event opportunities at Race Roster,  happening this year all over the place and I love that you can help raise awareness while exercising and socializing outdoors. I have so many more that I look forward to signing up for with my family.  I encourage you to research a cause you feel strongly about and want to help raise awareness for, I can promise you will have the best time and feel so good about doing it.

This morning was perfect because its July and the weather is hot, but the early morning was great for exercise. We completed the 5 kilometers with our little one in the Graco Jogging Stroller, which was ideal for such a run.  The wheels are large and made for this type of activity, our son was able to snack using the tray attachment, and recline back to relax and nap comfortably. We crossed the finish line with our toddler walking across proudly, and drank chocolate milk curtesy of Fairlife and the Kawartha Dairy.

Raising my family, I want to start as many family traditions as possible. Growing up, we had cute family traditions and it built so much character and love for other people that I want to make sure I do the same raising my little ones.

My husband and I, are both obsessed with thinking of silly ways to make up new traditions to carry on each year that allows us to bond as a family. These special memories mean so much and even though we only have a toddler who may not remember all of this,  these memories will last a lifetime for us.

It is so inspiring to see families develop special days to create memories! I would love to hear some of your family traditions and ways you bond as a family.
