Collingwood, Ontario

Going through these photos and all I can think about is when can we go back to Collingwood. We haven’t been able to take a family vacation out of province with our sweet boy just yet due to travel restrictions, so improvising with overnight getaways here and there has filled our hearts with adventure.

Collingwood is a hidden gem situated on the Nottawasaga Bay at the southern point of Georgian Bay. It’s known as a ski destination in the winter and offers beaches, limestone caves, and other outdoor activities in the summer.

Dining

We were in Collingwood for a quick trip, and we were ready to try a couple of great restaurants. The dining options in the Collingwood area are endless and amazing. For dinner, we had so many unique places to choose from and ended up going to The Heron Club. Their menu was fantastic, with the atmosphere being fancy and casual at the same time. The brick and barn wood interiors are beautiful and set the mood for an elegant yet fun dining experience. The bar was busy and had a sports vibe with a patio on the side.

Our brunch options offered so many cute street patios for café-style dining. We went to Duncan’s Café for their  patio and loved our meal paired with mimosas as we enjoyed our morning taking in the downtown views.

Beaches

Since it is now June, we took advantage of the weather and headed for the beach. We toured around and found Northwinds Beach which included multiple shaded sitting areas and pristine landscape surrounding the sandy beach.

After spending a couple of hours here, we went to one of our all-time favorite summertime places, Wasaga Beach. Wasaga is located on the outskirts of Collingwood and is a sand bar, home to one of the largest freshwater beaches with a view of the Niagara Escarpment. We love how big of a beach this is, how soft the sand is and how shallow the water for our little one to play. This location backs onto a stirp of amenities and always has so much going on. We enjoyed Bananas Beach Club and cannot say enough great things about the hospitality and fun times here.

Views

Sunset Point is a must-see when visiting Collingwood. It is an iconic waterfront location and has a gorgeous view of the Nottawasaga Bay at any time of day. Sunset Point is surrounded by water and is home to The Collingwood Grain Terminal which is a sightseeing landmark in the community.

Downtown Collingwood includes so much heritage, compelling my love for this town. I can think of many other places in Eastern and Western Canada that we have visited that remind me of the beauty of  downtown Collingwood. Some of Collingwood’s buildings are preserved and designated to the Ontario Heritage Act.  The buildings are kept in such great shape and celebrate a mix of old and new beautifully architected amenities.

The vibe that Collingwood celebrates is contagious and leaves you wanting to experience more of all the town has to offer. There are so many inspiring restaurants and reasons to explore this town, I cannot wait to go back to enjoy some time and transcend into the vacation feeling that Collingwood exuberates.

Consider Collingwood for your next adventure, there is so much life and fun to be had here and the locals are so friendly that this will be your new favorite getaway destination.

I would love hear some of your favourite towns to get lost in that are also known as hidden gems of Ontario like Collingwood!!
