5 Ways To Celebrate Canada Day

Canada Day has always been one of my favourite summer holidays. Every year we gather with family and friends to celebrate with great food, festive beverages and fireworks. This year, I wanted to make sure our toddler had as much fun as we do, so we spent it making some of our greatest memories.

Here are some of the best ways to celebrate Canada Day!

#1: CELEBRATE LOCALLY

To create a memorable time for my little one, I knew I wanted to get out and about to see what our area was doing to celebrate Canada Day. Communities all over the country have exciting activities happening to celebrate, whether it is festivals, events, or fireworks. Explore your local community to celebrate for Canada Day.

We went to Bobcaygeon Canada Day celebrations with fun activities for kids as well as a Canada Day Parade.

#2: EXPLORE SOMEPLACE NEW

Canada has so much to offer and exploring a new area whenever you get the chance is a great way to celebrate for Canada Day. We decided to tour around a local town, called Marmora! We are always looking for an adventure as a family, and we ended up finding one of our new favourite spots!!

The Callaghan’s Rapids Conservation Area was such a hidden gem that we just discovered and can’t wait to go back!

We also visited the Marmora Mines, the history was fascinating and the views were spectacular!!

#3: CANADA DAY IS BETTER BY THE LAKE

There are a ton of truly Canadian ways to celebrate our country. Summertime means boat time in Canada, so this is a great way to get out and celebrate like a local. We take pride in the province we live in because of the beautiful lakes we are surrounded by. I grew up spending the weekends boating with my family so I couldn’t think of a better way to spend this holiday than a day on the lake.

#4: COLOUR-COORDINATED CUISINE

I’m always a sucker for cute little details at any event I attend. To design a festive spread over the holiday weekend, I knew I wanted to stick to a red and white colour scheme. We made homemade pizza, as well as a Canadian-themed charcuterie board full of red and white appetizers and sweets.

#5: FIREWORK DISPLAY

Canada Day weekend could not be complete without a firework display. You can check out one of the various celebrations across the country or you can set off your own in your backyard. Either way, be sure to end the weekend with colours filling the sky!

Whatever way you decided to celebrate this Canada Day weekend, I hope the day is full of love!
